Embroidery file converter

Convert between PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3 and more. Your design does not change. We rewrite the file so a different machine can read it, and every stitch stays exactly where you put it.

Whatever your machine reads.

Your design stays put

Both files hold finished stitches, so there is nothing to redraw. The needle positions, the sew order and the colour stops all come back the same.

Reads 47 formats

Not just the popular ones. If a machine has ever written it, there is a good chance we read it. We work the format out from the file itself, so a wrong file extension will not trip it up.

Check it before you sew

We draw the converted design on screen, stitch by stitch, with its real measurements. So you can be sure you picked the right file.

Questions

Things worth knowing

Does converting change my design?
No. Both files hold finished stitches, so there is nothing to redraw. Every needle position, colour stop and trim comes out where it went in. If you want to actually change the design, that is a job for the studio.
Is it really free?
Converting and previewing are free, and you do not need an account for either. You do need one to download the file, but that is free too. No card, and it stays free.
What can I upload?
Just about any stitch file. PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, U01, PEC, XXX, HUS, VIP, SEW, PCS, TAP, PHC and about thirty more. We work out the format from the file itself, so all you pick is what you want back.
Will my thread colours survive?
If both formats carry colour, yes. DST is the odd one out. It stores stitches but no colours, so converting to a DST loses the thread names, and converting from one leaves your machine to choose. Everything else here keeps its colour list.
Does my file get uploaded?
Yes. The conversion runs on our server rather than in your browser. We keep the file just long enough to convert it and hand it back, then delete it along with its working folder, half an hour later at the very latest.
My machine will not take the converted file. Why?
It is usually the hoop, not the format. The design may simply be bigger than the hoop you have set. Check the measurements shown with your result before you blame the file.

Want to make the design, not just convert it?

Stitchist is a full digitizing studio. Draw the shapes, set the stitches, watch the simulated sew-out, then export a file your machine runs. Free, in the browser.
